Wilhelmina B. "Willa" Pall, (nee Chonko), 88, of Lorain, died Tuesday, August 28, 2007 at her residence while under the care of New Life Hospice following a lengthy illness.
She was born May 23, 1919 in Lorain, living here her entire life.
She was a 1939 B graduate of Lorain High School.
Willa worked as a librarian for the Lorain Board of Education for 19 years retiring in 1988. Prior to that she worked for May Co. in the credit department for 10 years.
She was a member of the former St. Michael Byzantine Catholic Church and a member of St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church. She was also a life member of the Veterans of Foreign War Post 451 Ladies Auxiliary, and a life member of the American Ex Prisoners of War. For the past 20 years, she spent her winters in Naples, Florida. She enjoyed ceramics, traveling, arts and crafts, making scarfs and afghans.
Surviving is her husband 56 years, Eugene; son, Kevin of Lorain; daughter, Gayle Inman of St. Petersburg, Florida; 1 grandson, 2 great grandchildren and 2 step granddaughters; step brothers, John Szanto of Chula Vista, California and Walter Szanto of Vermilion.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew Chonko and Barbara "Bertha" (nee King) Szanto; brother Andrew Chonko; and a sister, Margaret Huber.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Sr. Rita Costello, Chaplin of New Life Hospice will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
