William R. "Dan" Boone, 82, of Lorain, passed away Saturday, October 28, 2017 at Mercy New Life Hospice, Lorain, following a lengthy illness.
Born July 25, 1935 in Elyria, he graduated from Clearview High School in 1954 and served in the US Marine Corps Reserves for 7 years.
Known as "Mr. Bill" and "Mr. Fixit", Dan worked as a self-employed appliance repairman for 20 years, retiring in 2001. Prior to this, he worked as a car salesman, manager and finance and insurance manager at Spitzer Auto from 1956 to 1978.
Dan was a member of St. Mary Church, Lorain, and the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, fishing, boating and hunting.
Surviving is his wife of 46 years, La Sheliea (nee Worley); sons, William (Freda) of Lorain, Kenneth (Sarah) of Oberlin and Michael (Stacey) of Wadsworth; daughters, Rebecca Boone, Victoria Boone and Danielle (Alberto) Rivera all of Lorain; many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Josephine (Van Niel) Boone; sons, Richard and Gregory; brothers, Robert and Gerald; and a granddaughter, Mallory Rivera.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 4:00 until the time of funeral services at 7:30 pm in the Dovin Funeral and Cremation Specialists, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Rev. Robert J. Glepko, pastor of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish of Lorain will officiate. Amvets Post 32 Honor Guard will follow with military honors.
