William Dallos

June 24, 1920 — May 3, 2013

William "Bill" Dallos, 92, of Sheffield Township, passed away Friday, May 3, 2013 at New Life Hospice Residential Center, Lorain following a lengthy illness.
Born June 24, 1920 in Sheffield Township, he was a life long resident there. He was a 1938 graduate of Clearview High School
A World War II veteran of the US Army Air Force, Bill was stationed in Fiji and Okinawa, with stops in New Caledonia, Guadalcanal and Saipan. He received the American Theater Ribbon, Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon and the World War II Victory Medal.
He worked as a heater in the #2 seamless pipe mill for Lorain Works US Steel for 42 ½ years, retiring in 1985.
In 1975, Bill joined the Sheffield Township Fire Department, and served as a firefighter for many years.
He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Elyria, the United Steel Workers Union Local 1104 and the Veterans of Foreign War Post 1079. Bill enjoyed traveling, golfing, bowling and fishing. He also loved to watch Cleveland sports and was an avid follower of Clearview High School sports. He especially enjoyed attending his grandchildren's sporting events.
Surviving is his wife of 64 years, Katherine "Katie" (nee Rehoreg); a son, William (Carlene) of Lorain; a daughter, Kathleen (Gene) Bors of Brownhelm Township; grandchildren, Michele (Emit) Reynolds, Christopher (Lisa) Bors, Justin Dallos and Nicole Dallos; 6 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews; brothers, Paul of Virginia and Charles of Avon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Theresa (nee Nemes) Dallos; brothers, John, Steve, Frank and Andrew; and sisters, Theresa Bedo and Helen Dallos.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 3:00 to 8:00 pm in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be Monday at 9:30 am in the funeral home followed by mass at 10:00 am at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 41295 North Ridge Road, Elyria. Rev. Donald H. Dunson, pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. The Veterans of Foreign War Post 1079 will conduct military honors.
