William J. Kinder, age 82, of Lorain, died on Sunday, May 18, 2008, at Community Health Partners HSC - West, Lorain.
He was born on February 12, 1926, in Elyria, Ohio, where he resided until moving to Lorain in 1947.
William was in the United States Navy during World War II. He was employed as a security guard for Allied Security, in Cleveland, retiring in 1991. He was also employed at the Lake Terminal Rail Road.
He was a member of St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church. William was also a member of the DAV Louis Paul Proy Chapter 20, in Lorain. He enjoyed fishing and gardening.
William is survived by his wife of 62 years, JoyAnn (nee Splain), his 2 sons; John William, of Lorain, and Joseph Robert, of Vermilion, 8 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren, a brother, Robert, of Vermilion, and a sister, Elizabeth Janik, of Elyria.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Theresa Marie, in 1947, his parents; William S. and Susan (nee Kish) Kinder, and one sister, Dorothy Janik.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 21, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm, in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where prayers will be held the following morning at 10:30am. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 am at St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church, 41295 North Ridge Road, Elyria, Ohio 44035. The Rev. Fr. James R. Ols, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
