William J. “Bill” Resek, age 74, of Newcomerstown, Ohio, passed away Sunday, July 25, 2021, at Hennis Care Centre in Dover, Ohio.
He was born on Saturday, August 31, 1946, in Lorain, Ohio to the late John and Catherine (née Paterson) Resek. Bill graduated from Lorain High School in 1964 and went on to graduate from the University of Mount Union in 1968 with a bachelor’s degree in education. For the next 35 years, Bill taught English, Speech, Theater, Arts and was head of the English Department at North Olmsted High School, retiring in 2003. Following his retirement, he moved to Newcomerstown in 2004 where he built his new home and started Three Willows Ranch raising Alpacas. After his time as an Alpaca rancher, he picked up part-time teaching work at Cambridge High School. After a year at the high school, he was hired full time which turned into a 13-year carrier there. Following his second retirement as a teacher, Bill didn’t stop working. He then established I Remember When, an antique shop in Strasburg, Ohio.
Bill believed deeply in treating everyone with compassion and as equals. He made a positive impact on and touched the lives of many people throughout his life and was often his student’s favorite teacher.
He was also very politically minded and was an excellent cook.
Surviving are his children, Cathy Resek and Jeff (Christy) Resek both of Texas; grandchildren, Logan, Brandon and Jason, sister, Janet Reichert of Olmsted Falls, Ohio, 3 nephews and long-time best friend of 37 years David Patton.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 15th from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral and Cremation Specialist, 2701 Elyria, Avenue, Lorain. He will be laid to rest privately with his parents in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst, Twp.
