William "Bill" B. Samples, Sr., age 69, of Procious, W. VA, died peacefully at his son's home in Sheffield Township on Tuesday, August 4, 2009.
He was born on April 25, 1940 in Procious, W. VA. He had moved to Lorain where he worked for 31 years at the Avon Lake Ford Plant. After retirement, he returned home to West Virginia. He was a member of the UAW Local 2000.
Bill enjoyed fishing, hunting, and his real passion was for cars. He loved to restore antique cars. Most of all, he enjoyed spending quality time with his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his sons; Barry (Cheri), of Sullivan, William B., Jr. (Leslie), of Berlin Heights, and Russell L. (Debbie), of Lorain, Daughters; Laura M. Samples, of North Ridgeville, Tina (Bill)Samples-Godair, of Salisbury, NC, and Jessica D. Samples, of Procious, W. VA, 17 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and sisters; Barbara Farley, of Ocala, FL, Carol Rush, of Lorain, Christine Crider and Jacqueline Samples, both of Procious, W. VA, Connie Ferrell, of Ocala, FL, and Sharon McKown, of Spencer, W. VA.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Lauren Ashley A. Kirk, his parents; Harvey S. and Lenore C. (nee Massey) Samples, brothers; Buddy G. and Harvey S., Sr. Samples.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 6, 2009, from 2-4 and 7-9 in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services and burial will be held in Clay, W. VA, under the direction of Wilson's Funeral Home.
