William J. Singer, 75, of Lorain, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 3, 2016.
Born March 2, 1941 in Lorain, he lived in Lorain his entire life. William worked as a heavy equipment operator at Lorain Works US Steel for 38 years, retiring in 2001. He was a member of the United Steelworkers Union Local 1104. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and talking on his two way radio.
Surviving are his sons, Steven of Goshen, Indiana and Kevin of Lorain; daughters, Tammy Lopez of Elyria, Laurie Acre and Brenda Medina both of Lorain; his step-children, Holly Carpenter, Crystal Carpenter and Tommy Carpenter all of Lorain; and a sister, Kathleen Masters of Athens, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 20 years, Margaret (nee Canter) in 2012; parents, Steven and Josephine (nee Gidish) Singer; a brother, Joseph; and sisters, Irene Guenther and Blanche Sands.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5:00 until the time of funeral services at 7:00 pm at the Word of Life Church, 3008 Grove Avenue, Lorain. Rev. Ray Smith will officiate. The Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain is handling the arrangements. To send online condolences go to
