SPC. Zaida Rosales, age 25, of Lorain, currently serving in the United States Army in Hawaii, died Saturday, November 19, 2005, from injuries sustained in a traffic accident near Wahiawa, Hawaii.
Zaida was a 1998 graduate of Lorain Admiral King High School.
Her dedication and motivation was an inspiration to all who knew her. SPC Rosales entered the military in 1998. Her military accomplishments and achievements are: completed Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Jackson S.C. Her first duty assignment was HHC 8th Army Korea, also in Japan; her second tenor was HHC 34th engineer Fort Riley Kansas where she proudly served as a Food Service Specialist. After completion at Fort Riley she was assigned to HHC 125th Military Intelligence, Scholfield Barracks, Hawaii while assigned there, she completed field exercises in Thailand as a joint Pacific Command Training Exercise. She was also a proud member of the Headquarters Company 45th Corp. Support Group (Forward) SPC. Rosales also participated in the joint Navy Focus Training Mission at Pearl Harbor. Currently, she was assigned to Bravo Company 325th Forward Brigade Combat Team in Hawaii.
SPC. Rosales decorations include: National Defense Medal (1), Good Conduct Medal (2), Army Commendation Medal (2), Overseas Tour Ribbon (2) Global War on Terrorism Medal (1) and multiple achievement awards as Food Service Specialist.
SPC Rosales enjoyed Basketball, Tennis and Pool. Her favorite music was Salsa and Merengue.
She was preceded in death by her mother: Natalia Rosales (nee Hernandez) December 3, 1994.
She is survived by her daughter: Jasmine Natalia Merryweather, of Lorain, father: Fermin Rosales, Sr., of Lorain, sisters: Susana Ayala of Lorain, Carmen Ferrell of Seattle Washington, Wanda Gage and Evelyn Rodriguez, both of Lorain, brothers: Gabriel Rosales and Ralph Rosales, both of Abaline, Kansas, Fermin Rosales, Jr. of Kent, Ohio, Robert Rosales of Santa Paula, California and Ramon Rosales of Evansville, Indiana, and brother Michael Witchy, of Ohio.
The family will receive friends on Monday, November 29, 2005 from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where services will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp, Ohio, where full military honors will be conducted by the Military Honors Team from Fort Knox.
